Sign Up for The New Shul's Annual Social Action Shabbat!
Join us for a day of Social Action on Saturday April 28th, 2012 Give back to your city! We have many great opportunities to lend a helping hand:
RANDALL'S ISLAND: If you want to work outdoors and enjoy nature and a little physical labor, then sign up to work with a natural area crew on Randall's Island to remove invasive plants from this ecosystem and help plant new grass and shrubs. This will be RAIN OR SHINE from 9:30am-12:30pm. Families are welcome! All children must be accompanied by at least one parent. Group limited to 20.
Volunteer to help at KIDS' CLUB at the Chelsea Elliot Houses. We are excited to be able to continue working with an amazing group of at-risk children right in our neighborhood. We will be volunteering to help run a group lesson with projects and games, and give them an afternoon of safe, fun play together. Families are all welcome. Recommended for kids 10 and up. The group meets at Manhattan Mini-Storage, 524 W. 23rd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, at 11:15am and we will walk over to the site together, wrapping up around 2pm.
Help paint the basement of the Robert Siegal Center at 100 Avenue B (between 6th and 7th Street), a center run by the Andrew Glover Youth Program. AGYP has been around since 1979 and they do incredible work to help keep kids out of prison, and they have one of history's most successful and cost-effective crime prevention programs. We need as many people as possible and all ages are welcome. Time TBA.
Now, we need you to sign up! You can email coordinator Elise Hurley at elisehurley22@yahoo.com or email the office at info@newshul.org.
