Creating New Rituals

Member Sherry Narodick told us about a beautiful ritual she recently participated in. Sherry was invited to a wedding shower where everyone made a challah. The small challahs were then wrapped in tinfoil and given to the bride to put into her freezer. Whenever the bride would make Shabbat dinner during her first year of marriage, she could pull out one of the challahs from her freezer, which was made with love by her friends and family before the big day!

We love this idea and would love to hear about some modern Jewish rituals you have participated in whether it was for a life cycle event, moving into a new home, overcoming an illness, or any other moment in yours or someone else’s life.

After lighting the Chanukah candles, we do a meditation. I found one I really like on the Ritual Well website. Here is the link: http://www.ritualwell.org/holidays/chanukah/PrimaryObject.2008-10-05.4505
