Bible Talk
Yesterday at Bring Your Parents to Rishonim Day, one of our classes acted out a play called “Women Wage War” (a riff on Judges 4:1-5:31). We asked our students, if they could witness any section of the Torah live and up-close, what would it be? Answers included: creation, the animals boarding Noah’s ark, the ten plagues, animal sacrifice, and more. What section from the Torah would you like to witness and why?

Ha, this is a great question. I would love to see Moses talking to the burning bush! What does God's voice really sound like?
I'd love to see the first Sabbath. What does rest mean in Gan-Eden, especially when no one's really doing work but Gd up to this point?
I'd like to see the moment that Abraham finds out that he doesn't have to carry out the sacrifice of Isaac. That moment seems to me perhaps the most complex and powerful one in the Bible that I can think of. How did they each come to grips with what they thought was about to happen and still maintain their relationship. I guess the Rabbis might say only a belief in something outside of themselves could make that possible. It's got to be more complicated than that, though, or is it?
well anonymous of 12/22, i think the tanach paints a somewhat realistic picture answer there, after that portion, Isaac doesn't speak to Abraham again.
